TEACHER OF THE YEAR AWARD (TOYA) 2017
This award was initiated in 2000 by the active membership of the Postgraduate Students’ Association, who felt that there was a need to recognise and publicise excellence in postgraduate lecturing and tutoring at the University of Newcastle.

A nomination indicates that each lecturer or tutor has risen above normal expectations and that the calibre of their teaching is consistently high.

The Selection Process

The selection criteria fall into two sections:

Section A addresses the skills of lecturers or tutors with regard to their delivery of course material.

Section B addresses the relationship lecturers or tutors foster with their students.

Excellence in both areas is required for a nominee to make the short list.

Should the Selection Panel and the NUPSA Executive deem the nominations received have not met the criteria, a decision may be made not to make an award for this year. The decision by the Selection Panel and the NUPSA Executive will be final, and no discussions or correspondence will be entered into with the applicants for the nominations.

PLEASE NOTE: Nominations are to be current, with details relating to the 2017 calendar year (for example, a nomination from a student who completed their degree in 2016 or before will not be accepted).
